Therapeutic Approach

Evidence-based. Individually tailored. Together.

  • Therapeutic Relationship

The foundation of Morgan's counseling and psychotherapy practice is the nurturance and exploration of a safe, accepting, and attuned therapeutic relationship.

  • Client-centred and Humanistic

Developing a mutual understanding of how experiences impact on an individual at a particular time, and in the context of their unique developmental, cultural, and social environments.

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)and Brief, Solution-Focused Therapies

Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CBT) provide strategies and techniques for identifying and changing negative thoughts and beliefs, which in turn reduces painful emotions, and increases the possibility of healthy, sustainable behaviours, moving toward a preferred future.

  • Mindfulness and Existential Themes

Mindfulness-based interventions, e.g. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), introduce practices that gently increase capacity to be aware of, and accept challenging thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, thereby disarming these experiences as obstacles to identifying and honouring our most cherished values. Honouring our values promotes the possibility of experiencing a more rich, fulfilling, and meaningful life.

  • Interpersonal Therapy

Consider a shift of emphasis, from mis-perceptions of a self experienced as variously defective, or broken, to the interpersonal, social, jointly created reality of our lives, including themes of complicated bereavement, conflict management, role transitions, and social skills training

  • Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Therapy

The richness and depth of the many theories and practices, broadly described as psychodynamic or psychoanalytic, particularly those emphasising the relational, interpersonal, and intersubjective aspects of developmental and current experience, and the therapeutic relationship, provide the foundation for a transformative, longer-term therapeutic engagement with Morgan.

Morgan is a registered Psychologist, with an abiding passion for supporting adults, adolescents, and couples to experience an ease, contentment, and satisfaction with themselves and their lives, through collaborative, evidence-based interventions, in the context of a safe, attuned, and responsive therapeutic relationship.
